US oil rig count up for week ending Oct. 23 - Anadolu Ajansı

Groundwater contamination from a 30-inch oil pipeline

A 30-inch oil tube under a Wisconsin river leaked groundwater at 85 to 100 gallons per minute during drilling. The U.S. oil rig count remained stable despite rising oil prices. Environmental groups have challenged pipelines threatening the Great Lakes, and new drilling projects are emerging in Guyana and Uruguay. BP agreed to pay $350 million to settle remaining claims from the Deepwater Horizon incident. The FBI is investigating fires and groundwater eruptions linked to a controversial Wisconsin oil pipeline project.
